Biography

Dr. Rana M. Diab is an Optometrist with over 10 years of experience. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Optometry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) in South Africa. She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Optometry and a Bachelor of Science in Optics & Optometry from the American University of Science & Technology (AUST) in Beirut, Lebanon. Her research has been showcased at major national and international conferences.

As a co-founder of Vision Care Association (VCA), she served as General Secretary, Optometrist, and Trainer since 2017. She has been instrumental in leading the association’s initiatives in eye care, advocacy, education, and awareness. Her contributions include organizing free eye examination campaigns, training optometrists and students, and delivering eye health lectures across Lebanon.

Her clinical experience includes her tenure as a Clinical Optometrist at Clemenceau Medical Center, affiliated with Johns Hopkins International in Beirut, Lebanon. She has also advanced her skills by completing the Optometry Program in Advocacy & Leadership (OPAL), a joint initiative of the World Council of Optometry (WCO) and Indiana University.
Currently, she balances her roles at VCA with her position as an instructor in the Optics & Optometry Department at AUST and remains actively involved in global eye health efforts as a mentor in the OPAL program and as a Workforce Workstream Administrator at the Global SPECS Network of the WHO 2030 Initiative.
